Badgers earn No. 4 seed, will face No. 13 Montana in NCAA tournament

MADISON, Wis. -- The Wisconsin men's basketball team (24-9) received a No. 4 seed in the East Region and will face 13th-seeded Montana (25-6) in the second round of the 2012 NCAA Tournament on Thursday in Albuquerque, N.M. UW will be making its 14th-consecutive appearance in the Big Dance.

The Badgers and Grizzlies will play at 1:10 p.m. (CT) on TNT with Spero Dedes and Bob Wenzel calling the action.

Wisconsin owns a record of 23-16 all-time in the NCAA tournament, including a 14-10 mark under head coach Bo Ryan.

The winner of UW vs. Montana will meet the winner of the game between No. 5 Vanderbilt and No. 12 Harvard on Saturday.

The Badgers are a No. 4 seed for the third-straight year and are 3-0 all-time against No. 13 seeds in the NCAA tournament after defeating 13-seeded Tulsa in 2003, Wofford in 2010 and Belmont in 2011.

UW has earned a top-six seed in eight of its 11 NCAA tournament appearances under Ryan, including seeds of No. 4 or higher in four of the last five seasons.

Montana enters its eighth NCAA tournament in school history with an automatic bid after winning the Big Sky Conference tournament championship on March 7. The Grizzlies last made the NCAA tournament in 2010, losing in the first round to New Mexico. Montana has advanced past the first round just once in school history, reaching the second round in 2006.

The Badgers are 2-0 all-time against the Grizzlies, winning once in Madison and once at a neutral site. The teams last met in 1997.

The Wisconsin Athletic Ticket Office will be accepting requests for second/third round NCAA Tournament tickets beginning Sunday, March 11 at 7:00 p.m., and ending Monday, March 12 at 1:00 p.m. online at UWBadgers.com.

For your convenience, requests will also be accepted by phone on Monday, March 12 from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. by calling 1.800.GO BADGERS. Requests will only be accepted from donors to Wisconsin Athletics and men's basketball season ticket holders. Patrons will be notified via e-mail as to the status of their request on Monday afternoon. Patrons who make requests but do not receive an e-mail notification regarding their request should contact the Athletic Ticket Office. No conditional ticket requests will be accepted.

If tickets remain after the initial offering to donors and men's basketball season ticket holders, tickets will be sold to the general public beginning at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, March 12. If there is a general public ticket sale, fans can purchase tickets online at UWBadgers.com or by calling the Athletic Ticket Office at 1-800-GO-BADGERS.

Second round tickets are $70 and $80. If Wisconsin advances, third round tickets will also be $70 or $80.? Patrons will automatically receive third round tickets if Wisconsin wins its second round game. If Wisconsin does not win its second round game, patrons will not receive tickets for the third round.

Men's Basketball student season ticket holders are invited to participate in a sale of NCAA for second/third round tickets beginning on Monday, March 12 at 7:30 a.m.
