Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder contributed "Skipping," a gentle acoustic ballad, to "Every Mother Counts 2012," a benefit for the maternal health advocacy campaign of the same name. The disc also features previously unreleased cuts by Beck, Coldplay, Bono and the Edge, Patti Smith, Paul Simon and Edie Brickell, Alanis Morissette and the Dave Matthews Band.

"Eddie was amazing to accept this project while in the midst of so much," says Every Mother Counts founder Christy Turlington Burns. "I spoke to him and exchanged several emails about his contribution. 'Skipping' is such a sweet song and I just love that his daughter Olivia has a little cameo at the start. He once wrote me saying that his girls would be proud one day that their dad contributed to such a meaningful project."

"Every Mother Counts 2012" will be available in Starbucks shops in the United States and Canada between May 1 and May 29, and $8 from the proceeds of each CD will go to the Every Mother Counts campaign.

Video: Mullen: Obama's decision and result 'stand alone?

Former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Admiral Mike Mullen tells NBC?s Brian Williams he worries ?a great deal? that the Osama bin Laden raid will be spun into election politics.

>> the prospect, the possibility of politics getting mixed up in this one-year anniversary of the raid is a question we raised in our interview with retired admiral mike mullen , one of those in the picture we heard from earlier who back then was chairman of the joint chiefs of staff .

>> well, i worried about it just because it's a political season. and from my perspective, the president's support, the decision he made, and obviously, the result stand alone in terms of the kind of call presidents have to make, and he made it. i do worry a great deal that this time of year that somehow this gets spun into election politics. i can assure you that those individuals who risked their lives, the last thing in the world they want is to be spun into that. so i'm hoping that that doesn't happen.

>> the former chairman of the joint chiefs went on to say the special operations forces that night were not thinking about politics. they were thinking about just the mission.

Google Drive Arrives In ChromeOS Developer Channel

Google DriveEver since Google released its cloud storage service Google Drive earlier this week, there has been some speculation as to what its integration with ChromeOS, Google's cloud-centric operating system, would look like. Today, Google released the first developer version of ChromeOS 20 with support for Google Drive. As expected, Google Drive is now deeply integrated into the ChromeOS file manager, though this is clearly just a first effort and still needs quite a bit of work.
